The total number of active Covid-19 cases approached the 6,000 threshold in the last 24 hours, as reported on Saturday. The active Covid-19 cases in India have risen to 5,755 within the past day.

Covid-19 Update, June 7: The active Covid-19 cases in India experienced yet another rise over the previous 24 hours, as disclosed by data from the Union Ministry of Health on Saturday, indicating that the coronavirus's impact has been increasing over the last few weeks.

Here are the most recent Covid-19 updates for today in India:

The total number of active Covid-19 cases approached the 6,000 threshold in the last 24 hours, as reported on Saturday. The active Covid-19 cases in India have risen to 5,755 within the past day, as revealed by the Covid dashboard of the health ministry. 

India has recorded 391 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the data. This marks a decrease from the 498 cases reported on Friday.

The number of Covid-19 patients discharged in the past 24 hours was noted at 760, which is a decline from the 764 recoveries noted on Friday.

According to the data, four individuals succumbed to Covid-related complications over the past day. The fatalities were reported from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

In Maharashtra, a 45-year-old pregnant woman died in the hospital after experiencing intrapartum seizures, leading to her intubation. She subsequently tested positive for Covid-19. Additionally, a 59-year-old man in Kerala, who had lung cancer, passed away. The other two deceased patients were over 60 years old and had pre-existing health conditions.

On Saturday, Kerala reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases, totaling 127, with one fatality recorded in the state. Following Kerala, Gujarat and Delhi also reported cases.

Gujarat documented 183 new positive coronavirus cases on Saturday, raising the active case count in the state to 822, according to the health department. Notably, there were no reported deaths in the last 24 hours. The emerging cases in Gujarat are attributed to the JN.1, LF.7, LF.7.9, and XFG variants of the Omicron family, which are known to cause mild fever and cough, as stated by the health department.

Maharashtra reported 86 new cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases since January to 1,362. Among the new cases, 31 were identified in Pune city, two in its rural areas, and 28 in Mumbai, as per an official statement.

Uttarakhand confirmed four new positive cases of coronavirus on Saturday. Additionally, seven individuals tested positive for Covid-19 in Dehradun on Friday, prompting the health department to trace those who had contact with them.

Odisha's Education Minister, Nityananda Gond, emphasized the government's cautious approach towards Covid-19, stating that teachers should receive training to mitigate the risk of infection when exposure to the virus is unavoidable.
