Adani Group Partners With Brazil’s Embraer to Set Up Regional Aircraft Manufacturing in India
The Adani Group on Tuesday announced a landmark partnership with Brazil-based aircraft manufacturer Embraer to establish a regional transport aircraft manufacturing venture in India, marking the conglomerate’s entry into the aircraft manufacturing sector.
Speaking to the media, Jeet Adani, Director at Adani Airport Holdings Ltd, said the partnership would lead to the creation of a one-of-its-kind aviation ecosystem in the country and significantly alter India’s aviation growth trajectory.
“It is with immense pride that I announce that Adani Defence is today entering into a landmark partnership with Embraer, one of the world’s foremost aircraft manufacturers,” Jeet Adani said.
He added that the collaboration would go beyond manufacturing and help build a comprehensive aviation ecosystem aligned with India’s long-term industrial goals.
“Together, we will establish a regional aircraft manufacturing facility in India and a one-of-its-kind aviation ecosystem — a project that will redefine the future of aviation in our country,” he said.
Manufacturing, Assembly and Localisation Plans
The agreement marks Adani Group’s formal foray into aircraft manufacturing, with plans spanning aircraft manufacturing, assembly, and increased localisation of components. As part of the partnership, both companies will also set up a final assembly line (FAL) for Embraer’s regional transport aircraft in India.
However, details related to the investment size and the location of the proposed manufacturing facility were not immediately disclosed.
About Embraer
Embraer is the world’s third-largest civilian aircraft manufacturer after Boeing and Airbus. The company is known for its Embraer Regional Jet and E-Jet families of short- to medium-range passenger aircraft. It also produces business jets, defence aircraft, and agricultural planes.
Calling the partnership a long-term vision, Jeet Adani said it reflects India’s push towards self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
“This partnership is more than just a business agreement. It represents India’s determination to build world-class aviation capabilities on our own soil,” he said.
Defence Secretary Highlights Strategic Importance
India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, who was present at the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Adani Defence and Aerospace and Embraer, described the deal as a strategic milestone for India’s defence and aerospace sector.
“This collaboration reflects the evolving character of India’s defence and aerospace engagement with the world, increasingly based on partnership, capability building and long-term strategic alignment,” Singh said.
He noted that aircraft assembly represents the convergence of advanced manufacturing, precision engineering, quality assurance, certification, and global supply chain integration.
“By bringing this capability to India, we are moving decisively up the value chain — from being primarily a market for aircraft to becoming a participant in their production,” he added.
Singh also underlined that India’s evolving security environment requires not just capable armed forces but a globally integrated defence industrial base, which is the core objective behind the government’s defence manufacturing and aerospace policies.
