Prior to its earlier projection of February 10, IndiGo anticipates that flight operations will stabilize by December 10. With almost 650 flights canceled on December 7, the airline has experienced severe difficulties.
According to PTI, IndiGo announced on Sunday, December 7, that it now anticipates resuming regular flight operations by December 10, 2025. In light of the continuous cancellations and delays over the past week, the airline forecasts a quicker recovery of its schedules, as indicated by the updated timeline, which moves up its earlier target for stabilization in IndiGo operations.
The biggest airline in the nation had previously stated that corrective measures were in progress and that stable flight operations would not be fully resumed until February 10 of the following year.
For the sixth day in a row on December 7, IndiGo operations in India continued to be significantly interrupted, with up to 650 flights cancelled at various airports on Sunday. Thousands of passengers are stranded and becoming more and more irate as a result of this broad turmoil.
Is the state of affairs getting better?
On Sunday, 1,650 of IndiGo's 2,300 daily domestic and international flights are in operation. Despite the fact that 650 flights are still cancelled for the day, this shows that the airline's operations are progressively stabilizing.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry website, the airline's on-time performance from six metro airports improved to 20.7% on Saturday.
On Saturday, the airline operated roughly 1,500 flights and canceled about 800.
Decemver 5 proved to be the worst day in IndiGo's history, according to PTI. The airline had to cancel about 1,600 flights because of a severe crew shortage brought on by the implementation of the second phase of the court-mandated new flight duty and rest period norms, which apply to all domestic airlines.
But as things worsened, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation later lifted the regulations, allowing more pilots to resume their jobs.
The status of the luggage and refund procedures
The airline stated that both direct and indirect booking refund and luggage procedures are fully operational for passengers impacted by the interruptions. As it continues to work to stabilize operations, IndiGo has advised customers to check the most recent flight status on its website before traveling to the airport.
The spokeswoman stated, "We continue to work closely with all authorities and stakeholders to ensure a swift return to full normalcy."
A day prior, the government ordered the airline to locate and deliver, within the next 48 hours, any luggage that was separated from customers as a result of aircraft delays or cancellations to their residential or selected address.
