"The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested seven individuals as suspects in the incident of beating to death Sanatan Dharma adherent youth Dipu Chandra Das (27) in Valuka, Mymensingh," Yunus said in a post on social media platform X (previously X).
"Md Limon Sarkar (19), Md Tarek Hossain, Md Manik Mia (20), Ershad Ali (39), Nijum Uddin (20), Alomgir Hossain (38), and Md Miraj Hossain Akon (46)" are the suspects he named. The RAB-14 "conducted operations at various locations and arrested the aforementioned suspects," the statement continued.
Das was allegedly burned alive and lynched for alleged blasphemy in Mymensingh city, according to a PTI report. It further stated that the interim administration denounced the killing and pledged that "the perpetrators of this heinous crime will not be spared" in a statement released on December 19.

The attack was denounced as "barbaric" by Assamese government spokesperson Piyush Hazarika.
Notably, after Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent role in the major student rebellion in Bangladesh last year that resulted in Sheikh Hasina's removal, passed away, new violence broke out in the country.
Hadi passed away while receiving treatment at Singapore's Evercare Hospital after being shot and seriously injured in an attack last week. Protests calling for "justice" erupted in Dhaka and a number of other places after his passing. Two media outlets, Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, had their offices set on fire during the disturbance.
