In a daring move, Donald Trump's first parade will include a MAGA "garbage" truck.

A "Make America Great Again" garbage truck, which was first displayed in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in reaction to Biden's remark that Trump supporters were "garbage," will be part of Trump's inaugural parade. Its inclusion demonstrates Trump's disobedience.

The "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) emblem will be displayed on a garbage truck during US President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural procession. In reaction to remarks made by President Joe Biden, the truck made its debut on the campaign trail in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in October.

On Monday, January 13, a representative for Trump's inaugural committee told The Hill that the truck would be part of the customary procession that takes place on the day after the president is sworn in.

The garbage truck stunt's history
After President Biden seemed to call Trump supporters "garbage" during a rally in late October 2024, the garbage truck came to represent the contentious election season. Trump responded by introducing the garbage truck with the MAGA motif at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, which made the truck the center of political discussion.

"How do you feel about my trash truck?" As he stood next to the car, Trump pointed at it. "This truck honors Joe Biden and Kamala." The vehicle was parked in response to Biden's derogatory statement, with the words "Make America Great Again" clearly visible on its side. Trump wore a hard helmet and an orange safety vest throughout the performance.

Biden's remarks and the consequences
The garbage truck dispute was sparked by comments made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, a supporter of Biden, in the closing days of the 2024 election campaign. Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage" in an offensive remark at Trump's rally. The comment was criticized, particularly by Latino voters in Pennsylvania and other important swing states.

Biden's remark the following day seemed to call Trump's followers "garbage," which infuriated Republicans. The comment was quickly exploited by Trump and his supporters, who made it a major campaign issue.

Biden's remark caused a public divide between the Biden-Harris campaign and Trump's followers. Vice President Kamala Harris distanced herself from Biden's remark, saying, “I am strongly against any criticism of people based on who they vote for.”

Trump's parade: A contentious and patriotic display
In addition to the MAGA garbage truck, 7,500 people from a variety of organizations, including veterans' organizations, first responders, high school and college marching bands, and equestrian teams, will be included in the next parade, which is being planned by the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee. Trump will formally become the 47th president of the United States following the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol Building, which will be followed by the parade.

On this momentous day in American history, the parade will march from the Capitol down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

There will undoubtedly be significant reactions to the MAGA-themed garbage truck being included in the inauguration procession, which reflects the stark political divisions that have characterized Trump's ascent to power. Trump seems ready to extend his disobedience of his detractors into his presidency by including the truck in the parade, paving the way for yet another turbulent era in American politics.
