Stock market holiday: Indian stock markets will remain closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, in observance of the country’s 77th Republic Day, as per the official holiday calendar issued by the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
According to exchange data, trading in equity and currency markets will be suspended for the day. However, the commodity market will remain operational during the evening session, as reported earlier by Mint.
Next Stock Market Holiday After Republic Day
Following the Republic Day closure, Indian stock markets will next remain shut on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, on account of Holi. Both the National Stock Exchange and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will observe the holiday.

In the previous trading week, Indian benchmark indices continued their downward trend amid geopolitical uncertainties, profit booking, caution ahead of the Union Budget 2026, and mixed Q3 earnings for FY26.
Data from the NSE showed that the Nifty 50 declined 2.51% over the past week, ending 0.95% lower at 25,048.65 points, compared with 25,289.90 points in the previous session. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex closed 0.94% lower at 81,537.70 points, down from 82,307.37 points, according to official exchange figures.
