Flyers, take note! How to check the status of your flights with Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet when visibility is poor in Delhi-NCR

Delhi Airport declared on December 24 that IGI Airport is presently implementing low-visibility protocols. In order to guarantee safe aircraft movements during winter fog, such procedures are usually put in place.

On Wednesday, December 24, low visibility conditions continued to interfere with air travel throughout the Delhi-NCR, leading to an advisory from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) due to hazardous air quality, fog, and haze in the nation's capital.

Low-visibility protocols are still in place, according to airport officials, and travelers are encouraged to check the status of their flight before arriving at the airport because there is a chance of delays and cancellations.

Low-visibility protocols at the airport in Delhi
Delhi Airport verified that low-visibility protocols are in place at IGIA in its most recent alert. Although these procedures are usually put in place to guarantee safe aircraft movements during winter fog, they frequently cause slower takeoffs, delayed landings, and schedule disruptions.

More than 270 flights were delayed on Tuesday owing to heavy fog and poor visibility, while at least 10 flights were canceled the day before.

In a post on X, Delhi airport operator DIAL stated, "Visibility at the airport is improving; however, flight departures for certain destinations may experience delay."

Delhi's air quality is still dangerous.
Delhi's air quality is still bad, which makes the problem worse. On Wednesday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 325, which puts it in the dangerous category. PM2.5 and PM10 were the most prevalent pollutants.

Pollution data showed that PM10 levels were 253.67, PM2.5 was 357.08, nitrogen dioxide (NO2) was 67.24, sulfur dioxide (SO2) was 19.62, ozone (O3) was 15.1, and carbon monoxide (CO) was 65.16.

Sensitive groups, such as youngsters, the elderly, and people with respiratory issues, should limit their outside exposure when the AQI exceeds 100, according to medical experts. Residents are encouraged to limit their outside activities and wear masks when they are outside when the air quality is "poor" or worse.
