Shami and Hasin Jahan's legal battle
This occurs months after the Calcutta High Court mandated that Shami give his estranged wife Hasin Jahan ₹4 lakh a month, along with maintenance for their daughter.
On July 1, the Indian cricket player was ordered by the bench of Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee to pay her wife ₹1.5 lakh and her kid ₹2.5 lakh per month.
"In my thoughtful opinion, a monthly payment of Rs. 1,50,000 to petitioner no. 1 (wife) and Rs. 2,50,000 to her daughter would be just fair and reasonable to ensure financial stability for both petitioners." The order was dated July 1.

However, Hasin Jahan had requested maintenance of ₹10 lakh per month, of which ₹3 lakh was for her daughter and ₹7 lakh for herself. Her request was turned down, nevertheless.
Hasin Jahan won the July decision because it was a substantial increase over the ₹1.30 lakh a month that a district court had mandated Shami pay to his wife and their kid in 2023.
