After Mohsin Naqvi goes beyond all bounds, the BCCI will file a "strong, serious" objection with the ICC: "Isn't giving him the right..."

Mohsin Naqvi's decision to take the Asia Cup trophy with him has prompted the BCCI to issue a "strong and serious" protest against the ACC chairman.

Mohsin Naqvi, the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), will face a "strong and serious" objection from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for his actions during the ICC conference in Dubai later this year. After the Indian players declined to take the trophy from Naqvi, who is also Pakistan's interior minister and PCB chief, the Asia Cup 2025 came to a contentious conclusion. After a forty-five-minute wait, the post-match presentation started, but it ended abruptly when the Indian team refused to engage with Naqvi on stage.

The head of the PCB and ACC then hurriedly left the stage as he left the stadium grounds. The Asia Cup trophy, it must be said, was not present. It has now been revealed that Naqvi made sure that no one else gave the Asia Cup to India. Even though Suryakumar Yadav and his colleagues resisted, he was determined to give away the award.

Naqvi has been in the center of every controversy throughout the Asia Cup. He consistently acted in Pakistan's favor, disregarding his need to maintain his position as chairman of the ACC. Naqvi was in the center of everything, from the no-handshake controversy to calling for Pycroft to be fired as match referee. In the event that his demands were not fulfilled, he even threatened to boycott the competition.

If that wasn't enough, he further made fun of Indian supporters by invoking Pakistan's claims of bringing down Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor in a ludicrous and repulsive video that he shared on X (previously Twitter). Fans got Naqvi's point even though he used fewer words and released a footage of Cristiano Ronaldo that was entirely out of context.

The BCCI seemed to have had enough of Naqvi's shenanigans, and the post-match presentation's pomp and circumstance was the last straw.

"The ACC chairman, who is also one of Pakistan's top leaders, has offered us the Asia Cup 2025 trophy, but we have chosen not to accept it. That was a deliberate choice. He is not entitled to take the medals and trophy with him because of this. It's quite regrettable and unsportsmanlike. According to India Today, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated, "We hope the trophy and medals will be returned to India as soon as possible."

"There is an ICC conference scheduled in Dubai this November, and at that conference, we will launch a very serious and strong protest against the actions of the ACC chairman," he stated.

There was no BCCI representative present for the final
At the Asia Cup final at Dubai International Stadium, there was not a single BCCI representative in attendance. Mithun Manhas became the 37th President of the board when it held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday. Rajeev Shukla continued to serve as vice president, and Saikia was restored to his position as secretary.

With five wickets down and two balls remaining, Tilak Varma's elegant 69-run innings in the final helped India reach the 147-run mark. Earlier, Pakistan was held to 146 in 20 overs by Kuldeep Yadav's four wickets.
