While playing golf, Donald Trump forced Colombia to make a U-turn on deportation planes.

The enormous diplomatic crisis with Colombia briefly disrupted Donald Trump's leisurely Sunday golf outing.

After Colombian President Gustavo Petro prevented two US military deportation planes from landing in his country, the 47th President of the United States pledged to impose punitive sanctions on the nation—all while ostensibly playing golf at Trump National Doral Miami.

According to an Express US article, the enormous diplomatic crisis briefly disrupted Trump's leisurely Sunday round of golf. Two US military C-17 plane flights carrying 80 Colombian migrants each were being blocked by Colombia as they were leaving California for the country.

Trump responded to Petro's actions by declaring that, among other sanctions, he would impose a "travel ban" for Colombian nationals and a "emergency 25% tariff on all goods" from Colombia. From the gold course, all of this.

"I recently learned that two U.S. repatriation flights carrying a significant number of illegal criminals were denied entry into Colombia. Gustavo Petro, the socialist president of Colombia, who is already very unpopular with his people, issued this order," Trump stated on social media.

Trump stated that Petro's refusal of the flights endangered American public safety and national security, outlining the directives he gave his administration to resolve the matter.

What sanctions was Donald Trump putting Colombia under?

As the diplomatic issue around the deportation planes deepened, Donald Trump made public all of the taxes and sanctions he was enforcing against Colombia.

All items entering the US are now subject to emergency 25% tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. The 25% tariffs would increase to 50% after a week.

The Colombian government officials, along with their sympathizers and supporters, were also subject to an immediate visa revocation and a travel restriction by the United States government.

On the basis of national security, Trump also demanded more thorough border security and customs inspections of all Colombian citizens and goods.

The Republican added that full IEEPA banking, financial, and fiscal sanctions would be applied. He indicated that he was prepared to take the situation to a higher level by referring to all of these actions as only the beginning.

The Colombian president gave in to pressure and welcomed the immigrants, so none of it was necessary. The United States is stopping its actions against Colombia, but the order will be "held in reserve," the White House stated in a statement.
