According to preliminary statistics, the Congress won one seat and the Aam Aadmi Party held three seats in the by-elections to Punjab's four assembly segments.
Congress was in the lead in Barnala, but the AAP was in the lead in Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, and Chabbewal, respectively.After the ninth round of counting at 11.18 am, Ishank Kumar Chabbewal of the AAP was ahead of Congress candidate Ranjit Kumar, his closest opponent. Third place went to Sohan Singh Thandal, a BJP candidate.
After four rounds of voting, AAP candidate Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon defeated Congress candidate Amrita Warring, who was his closest opponent in Gidderbaha. Following the two rounds of counting, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring's wife is Amrita Warring.
Third place went to Manpreet Singh Badal, a BJP candidate and former Punjab finance minister.
The AAP was in the lead at first in the close contest in the Barnala segment, but the Congress candidate eventually overtook them.
After ten rounds of counting, Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhillon was ahead of AAP candidate Harinder Singh Dhaliwal in Barnala. Third place went to Kewal Singh Dhillon of the BJP.
Jatinder Kaur Randhawa of the Congress and Gurdeep Singh Randhawa of the AAP are engaged in a see-saw struggle in the Dera Baba Nanak. After nine rounds of counting, the AAP candidate is currently ahead of Congress.
The Congress contender is the spouse of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, a Gurdaspur Congress MP. Third place went to Ravikaran Kahlon of the BJP.
